Located just a short drive from downtown, this .5 mile trail offers panoramic views of the valley and the lake. It also offers some historical value. This peak was used by Indians, pioneers and explorers. Brigham Young, along with eight other pioneers, climbed to this summit on July 26, 1847, two days after the Mormon pioneers arrived in the Salt Lake Valley. They used this peak to view their surroundings. The trail leads up to a stone monument located at the peak. The elevation gain is about 400 feet. Dogs must be on a leash. To get there, drive north on East Capitol Blvd. and go past the State Capitol Building. Continue for about 8 blocks and then turn left on Ensign Vista Drive.
