Map

The Harvey House in Belen is one of 84 houses created by Fred Harvey. These houses/restaurants were located next to the railroad and they had a renown reputation for serving fine food in an elegant manner. Eastern U.S. women were recruited to work in these eating establishments throughout the Southwest U.S. The superb food preparation and excellent dining service sustained The Harvey House through the Great Depression of the 1930s. Your well-behaved leashed dog is welcome inside this museum. The museum is adjacent to a miniature railroad museum where your dog is also welcome. The museum is located in the city of Belen, which is about an hour south of Albuquerue. It is a nice stop on the way to the dog-friendly Very Large Array (VLA) Radio Telescopes in Socorro. Admission is free, but donations are welcome.
