Mackworth Island
Mackworth Island Andrews Avenue Falmouth, Maine
207-624-6076 Map
An area rich in cultural and ghostly lore, this small island is a sanctuary for birds, animals and people with a hundred acres to explore and a 1.25 mile walking trail that takes visitors around the entire island for some great views of harbor activity and bird and marine life. There is also a private walled area to commemorate the 19 Irish Setters who were the "lifelong friends and companions" of the Governor who donated this island. Dogs are welcome here, and they must be leashed and cleaned up after at all times.
