Once an abandoned tree nursery from the 50's, this 35 acre scenic preserve is considered one Open Land's most successful efforts with reclaimed areas creating multiple mini-habitats, and the nursery left an unusual variety of trees behind not common to the area. Dedicated to the preservation, conservation, and education of the community's natural heritage, this preserve is 1 of Open Lands 5 dog friendly parks in the area. Dog owners must register with the preserve (272 E Deerpath, Suite 318, Lake Forest IL 60045) as members of Open Lands with dog walking privileges and receive a current dog-walking decal. Dogs must be leashed when in view of other people or animals, and they must be cleaned up after at all times. Only 3 dogs are permitted to be walked by one individual at a time, and all dogs must be licensed, healthy, and be current on all distemper, parvo, and rabies shots. Dogs must be well mannered, under their owner's control, and remain on the trails at all times. Dogs are not allowed in the wetlands or streams.
