Comments:During the time of the year when dogs are prohibited from their favorite places here on the Cape, Hot Diggity in Mashpee is sponsoring DOGS ALLOWED. A non-profit event for dogs, about dogs and with dogs. The Village Green at Mashpee Commons is where you will want to be on Saturday, July 19, 2008 from 10am - 5pm. There is a $5 entrance fee for humans, dogs are free. All proceeds will be donated to The Sampson Fund: helping people in need pay for vet expenses.

A variety of performances and activities are scheduled throughout the day. Plan on seeing doggie dancing by Capering Canines of Cape Cod, and a special demonstration by the Barnstable County Sheriff's K-9 Unit. You can also watch a dazzling red carpet fashion show, with Puparazzi Amy Rader who will capture the models on film. Don't forget the crowd favorites: an agility demonstration, a retriever race and the trick contest, where dogs will show off their talents and wow the crowd.

Feel like joining in the fun? Bring Rover on over to the Kissing Booth, Ask The Trainer about that behavior you have been wondering about, hop on over to the Busy Station where you and your pup will perform side by side, or enter some of the games to win prizes. Be sure to visit Dr. Goffi, who will be holding a microchip clinic where $25 will get your pup a microchip and will also register him, and then make a quick stop for nail trimming and ear washing.

When you get hungry, refreshments will be available for you and your pup. Give Rover a chance to drink some spring water, then grab a dog (a hot dog that is) and head over to enter the raffle. You could win anything from gift baskets to gift certificates. Listen to the music provided by DJ Ben Perry while mingling with other dog lovers. Be sure to chat with our volunteers about the all-natural ingredients in the free samples of dog food they'll be handing out.

And when Rover has jumped through hoops, strutted his stuff on

Comments:The Pet Rock Festival is an annual afternoon expo that includes live music, vendors, food, contests, and most importantly, more than 150 animal organizations broadcasting their cause.
Proceeds benefit such animal organizations as Sterling Animal Shelter, Humane Society: Youth, Animal Legal Defense Fund (ALDF)), NEADS, Foster Parrots and the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA), to name a few. $500 and $250 awards are also headed to rescue groups and shelters that won our coveted "lottery" and "adoptable dog parade."
So far, Pet Rock Fest has distributed well over $75,000 to worthy animal causes in New England.
Pet Rock Fest is not only a huge animal event, but a year-round endeavor to educate, promote and communicate with people the importance of treating animals with kindness. Our Web site, www.petrockfest.com, has become a general meeting place for concerned animal lovers to unite and share information and thoughts. On this site, we post animal news, link to important animal-related sites, update you on our upcoming festival and most importantly, provide a forum for folks to chat.
Please visit us at www.petrockfest.com. Get involved. Learn more. And remember, they can't talk, so we will.
